So I ended up with a $100 gift card to Sam Ash. I decided today to use it. There were a couple things I had in mind that I wanted to pick up. I approached the guitar counter and this is how it went
Me - Hey, do you guys happen to have any gold humbucker ring covers?
Him - No, blah blah blah (explaining why).
Okay, so I figure this is acceptable because the gold rings are sometimes tough to track down...no prob.
Me - Okay, I also wanted to pick up a set of gold grover tuners.
Him - We only have the chrome ones.
...
uh... okay...
Me - Alright then, I need to get a generic 3 way les paul or SG style switch, anything you have.
Him - *looking behind him* We asked the inventory person to put it on the list a week ago, but we haven't gotten any.
...
uh...let me repeat that...I just wanted a standard 3 way switch and they didn't even have that. Un-freaken-believable. Now, the guy at the sales counter was very nice and I could tell that in some sort of way he knew how bad this store sucked but just couldn't say it. Afterall it's not his fault that place is like skid row.
So then empty handed I decided to look around at the axes a bit. I see a nice LTD SG/Valkyrie style guitar with EMG 81/85 set. Knowing my EMG set is on it's way (thanks forum member Al!) I picked it up and plugged it to tinker around a bit. Never fails with Ontario Sam Ash...the guitar was broken. I mean seriously, what in the hell kind of place just leaves a bunch of broken ass guitars out on the sales floor in that condition??
Needless to say I was VERY frustrated after this visit. Is there any way I can somehow magically turn my Sam Ash gift card into a guitar center gift card? What if I were to buy something like an SD pickup there and then show up at guitar center and tell them I wanted to return it to them for store credit? Any chance that would work?? *sigh*
