Re: Samson USB Condenser Mic
Check out "Wandering" It's a short clip close mic'ing my V30 loaded cab. I've already learned a bit more about placement and the ultra sensativity of the mic. It clipped a bit and I've adjusted for that in later recordings. I'll post more tomorrow with clips of drums/guitar mic'd from the middle of the room. It turned out pretty good, but I've got to cut and paste sections from 45 minutes of recording today.
Here's my review so far:
Pros
1)Flat eq, uncolored and very sensitive
2)Software controled phasing and low cut filters
3)There is a shock mount available that I may get
4)It was only $75 plug and play with a cable and mic stand adapter head
Cons
1)Only 16 bit, 48k sampling(But for what I'm doing it's great)
2)Driver doesn't support stereo pairs
3)Original cable(10') is a limiting factor though you can daisy chain up to 80' with an active USB extension box and active extension cables
4)You are stuck to a computer for recording, but you bypass the soundcard for better quality recordings on the cheap.
