Sansamp Flu Rig V5 is the sh*t -It simplifies/solves so much perfectly

The difference is the missing character knob, so the difference could just be a resistor change to adjust that setting. I remember that knob added a lot of options to the British pedal. I kinda hate them discontinued the character series for the Fly Rigs, I liked the character pedals and liked being able to put them where I wanted in the signal chain. I'm sure it's much easier to manage the supply chain now although they seem to be making up for lack of quantity on the guitar side with a plethora of bass offerings now.

So, the FR5 stays clean for you and isn't what you consider "dark"? Again, may be my monitors or room that is making it sound that way. The grit in the channel isn't a bad thing, just have to back the gain way down to get a clean signal.

No, not dark for me. Then again, I've been running it right in to the PA at rehearsal and I bump the treble up some and pull the lows back a tad left of noon and the mids are at 2 o'clock. When I'm using a clean tone I have the Keeley Compressor enaged which has a tone knob so that helps put some additional sparkle in.

I'm running through an M-Audio AIR interface through a set of Kali monitors. It may partially be my setup, it sounds much brighter through the IEMs system at church, not sure what it sounds like out front, that's kind of the rub with IEM systems.

My setup at home is through a Focusrite Scarlett Solo and a pair of Sony studio headphones. I plan to get some small monitors when we move in to the new house and I have my own office / music room. At rehearsal it's a complete Line 6 mixer / speaker system.

That thing is basically what I made with Mooer pedals.

I would love one that was Right to left buttons

1. OD Pedal
- TS/Klon style switch
2. Marshal
- Vintage/modern switch
3. Clean amp
4. Boost switch
5. Modulation
- Phase/Flange/Chorus switch
6. Delay
- Analog/Digital switch, tap tempo
7. Reverb
- Room, Hall, plate switch

That would be about perfect for any/everything.

Not that far.

Figured I'd move my comments to where others can see it easier in the pedal forum

So I finally tracked with the Sansamp Fly rig tonight.

Gotta say -it's bad*ss.

It sounds great -no surprise there though -as Tech21 doesn't make anything that's not great and they were the first to market with real amp modeling eq tools that professionals liked.

-Has Marshall (Plexi), Fender (Blonde), and Mesa style tone (Cali button on right side) stacks plus clean boost, Tap tempo Delay and Reverb are great and the Chromatic tuner is solid. Also a loop I/O to add you must have modulation and downstream F/Xs

The knobs are super sensitive (but tight so they don't accidentally move) -I was surprised how wide of a range can be dialed in.

One huge advantage is the noise floor is so damn quiet -if you had these functions in 5 or 6 pedals it would be way way noisier -but instead it's super silent.

Haven't tried the DI line level out yet -but Mincer says it sounds great.

This thing is 299.00 -it seems like an essential thing to have at the house or studio for guest players and either to gig with as the primary board or keep as a total backup if traveling.

Only draw backs are it's WAY smaller than I thought -so it's a little tight switching quickely if you have big feet -and it's easy to over step and bump a knob. The thing is 12.5 " wide and 2.5 " deep !!!

I have 4 gigs coming up, and am thinking about subbing out my main board for this on one of the smaller events to see how I do.

I played straight to the return loop of backline amps with the v1 a while back. Glad to see they added a tuner :)

Yeah - Mooer Red Truck - THAT'S the one for me! They make a couple of others. Still, I dig my little 5 pedal job...

With that Mooer, you still need a decent back line. I see it has the dedicated direct out with speaker simulation but that's not the same as the Sansamp in the Fly Rig.

Yes, it just looks like a collection of small pedals. It isn't based around the amp/speaker emulation like the Tech 21.

Yes it is a different beast, more designed to be a full set of pedals to go into an amp. I've seen some great demos, but for direct use, I'd want some kind of amp emulation in addition to the cab sim. The cab sim and headphone out may make it a good little practice tool though. The fx loop is a nice addition also.

Glad to hear it. They have a great reputation and I'm glad to hear that they are still delivering. My one piece of Tech 21 gear - a Bass preamp/DI - really simplified my gigging bassist life and improved my tone tremendously. So of course I eyeball the Tech 21 stuff for guitar as well for if/when the need arises.
