Saturday night special Magnets roughcast or polished

Hey forum members, quick question. I just bought a set of Saturday night specials used on reverb and I noticed the bridge has a roughcast magnet, and the neck has a polished mag. I'm wondering if someone swapped out the bridge magnet, of course the seller isn't responding to my question. No biggie I got them for cheap, so I'm not too worried, I'm just wondering what anyone else has discovered on their sets.

I would typically think most Duncan mags are polished.....for consistent size.

id assume polished for both from the factory but dont know for sure. rc in the bridge can be nice, i usually prefer polished in the neck

I bought mine new. Both mags look polished to me, but Ill be glad to take a closer look for ya.

How do they sound compared to say Ants or Seths?

Thanks, let me know what you find, the bridge pickup looks absolutely untouched ( or this person is a wizard at getting the tape off). But it's definitely a rough magnet of some sort. I had this a set of these in my Les Paul, but they were nickel covered so I never got a look at the magnets. The bridge sounds a lot brighter than I remember. But it was a year ago and in a Les Paul vs in a strat now.

Quick update, the original owner got back to me, and confirmed he never made any mods to the pickups, and he bought them new, so they came from the factory with a roughcast A4 in the bridge and a polished A4 in the neck.

I took a closer look and they do appear to be RC after all! Wow, whaat a surpising detail for a production pickup!!!
