Saturday Night Specials on this guitar?

Im using a Gibson Les Paul with a set of Saturday Night Specials on it and its the best sounding guitar ive ever played. What i like to know is if the SNS will sound great on my Suhr as well?
Its a Suhr Modern Custom in Basswood with maple top, maple neck, rosewood fretboard and a Gotoh Floyd Rose. Im using a Diezel Herbert...mostly on low gain on channel 2...but sometimes i crank the gain. I play heavy blues, hardrock and prog metal and the SNS sounds great for all styles i hit them with. I love the uncompressed and amazing string definition of them with no harsh highs or muddy lows. Will they sound great on the Suhr too or do you guys suggest other pickups? Dont like the Suhr pickups on it anymore.

Frit of all, welcome, as it looks like you are a newer member. This is a great place to learn and hang out, so don't be afraid to jump right in and ask questions or share your knowledge with others.

I think the SNS's would sound great in the Suhr as well. I fell in love with the SNS because of the sound clip on this site, and that was done with an SG. Not quite the same as your Suhr Modern, but much closer to it than the Les Paul you have for comparison. The nice thing about the SNS with the A4 magnets is that the tone spectrum it puts out is fairly even, allowing the traits of your individual guitar to shine through. It doesn't emphasize treble or bass or mids more heavily like other pickups that might be mid scooped or mid heave, etc.

I have a SNS bridge that I'm going to install in a USA Dean Hardtail. It's Mahogany with a carved maple cap, double cut similar to a PRS, but more meaty. I'm hoping it sounds great in there.... and I'm looking for a used double cream or zebra neck version used to match with it. Maybe I'll get to switch it this weekend.

Good luck with the pickup search. Let us know what you decide on.

Thanks for the welcome!

To my ears the SNS Bridge is the best humbucker I've ever tried during my +27 years as a session guitarist and I've tried some during my +40 years of playing the guitar. The neck pickup is also one of my favorites. I also have an American HSS Strat Deluxe from 2005 with a SNS in the bridge position and it sounds unbelievably good. Even better string definition than my LP.

I love the tone Doug has on the SG…and with the input from you I feel stupid that I even asked about putting the SNS’s on my Suhr as it seems obvious that it’ll sound amazing.

I also think it would be good, if a little brighter sounding than in the LP. I'd assume you don't want them to sound exactly the same anyway, so that's a win-win. Those are great pickups in either a Gibson scale or Fender scale.

Man, I tell you, NEVER feel silly about asking a question. It's a new situation for you, so if you can get help/reassurances then it's a win. Hell, what you just told me about the SNS sounding great in an LP and a strat gives me more confidence about using it in my application. Plus, your stated experience is far superior to mine, so I can use your help more than you can use mine!

I'm just an at home tone junky who likes to upgrade nice guitars to sound their best, even if it's only me and my unfortunate wife who hears them. Let us know how it ends up working for you. It's still a relatively new pickup, so the more cases we hear of success or failure in a specific guitar, the more we can help the next guy that comes along.

Thanks for posting and stick around when you have time. We could use someone with your experience and knowledge.
