Saxopup

Re: Saxopup

I'd get a Roland Synth pickup and synthesizer. If you're just wanting to emulate sax on guitar, I'd use a low to mid output pickup, like a '59 or Pearly Gates and boost it with a pedal (just a slight overdrive to create some breakup), maybe something like DOD's Mystic Blues or something similar.

Wow! That is just what I do. So far, that is the best way to get a thick singing like sax quality. A 59 boosted. I was just wondering what everyone else thought, and your first guess was the same as mine. I guess I'm on the right track.

Re: Saxopup

i am going to try to get a holdsworth-esque tone from a CC with two rows of screws ... i always thought that the tone he got in the late 80's/early 90's period (non synth axe) was very sax-like ... i have a rocktron pro-gap that he designed presets for and a solid state pre amp just as he used ... so we'll see

i also have a gtr synth, so i get a great breathy tenor tone when i need it :D

Hey tone4days,

Have you ever heard the Japanese version-Wardenclyffe Tower of Tokyo Dream? Whew, the tone on that is insane. As well as None Too Soon. How's Ellicott City? My mother lives there.

Re: Saxopup

no havent heard that version ... i need to update my AH collection with some of that stuff ... his tone was always inspiring to me ... so interwoven with his entire musical approach and technique

EC is a real fine place to raise a family, albeit a pretty expensive one ... not alot happening, musically ... but easy access to everywhere you wanna go
