scatter pattern 50's and 60's pickups

Re: scatter pattern 50's and 60's pickups

Formvar VS Enamel? They are different types of insulation.

Using different types of insulation changes the tone

scatterwinding is truely random

randomly scattered to reduce capacitance in the coil

Re: scatter pattern 50's and 60's pickups

"Honeycomb" winding. The turns are wound at an angle with respect to the axis of the coil. Each layer has an angle that is the negative of the angle of the previous winding. The result is that the turns of adjacent windings cross each other at an angle, and thus the inter-winding capcacitance is reduced.

Honeycomb coils? maybe like the SRV pickups

Re: scatter pattern 50's and 60's pickups

layerwound- Layering winding

Scramble wound- Scramble winding

I'm trying to find more different kinds of winding techiques and will post more when i find the names of them

Re: scatter pattern 50's and 60's pickups

Sorry, I got no time today to spend here, I got 9 guitars here for repairs and about 15 pickups to wind.

maybe Sat Night I'll be back?
