I haven't got any info on the net...but from the tone I'm guessing that they could be Alnico II's...if you have any info I would be glad to hear thanks...
the bridge golden 50 uses alnico II and is the same wind, wire gauge, and specs as the gibson 57 classic pupcsarvox said:I haven't got any info on the net...but from the tone I'm guessing that they could be Alnico II's...if you have any info I would be glad to hear thanks...
yes but the do however sound like the classic 57's by gibsonjeremy said:ive heard these before and they dont come close to a seth or any other duncan ive tried. they sounded kinda flat, not bad but not good
anyway ya slice it ,the seth is my #1 choice for a alnico II 8.1K pup:bigthumb:jeremy said:sorta, i like the 57 classics a little better but it could be the guitars they were in
Do you mean the golden age pupsrmcfee said:I must disagree. I have used the Golden 50 in various different guitars and it sounds awesome whether in single coil, humbucking or parallel mode. Great pups. I've played for 30 years and have used lots of gear.
The single coils and the hot version of the Golden 50 are great too. - Rob McFee

I dont recall a hot version of schallers PAF?
Oh you mean the one they called the 2 in 1 buckerrmcfee said:I am referring to the Shaller Golden 50 PAF copy. I can't recall what the hot one was called. It was in the Stew-Mac catalogue at one time. I haven't looked lately.
I tried one (hot Schaller) that came out of a friend's guitar and loved the sound. Loud and bright but good tone. Of course tone is subjective! I have a friend who likes his Hiwatt amps with so much treble that it kills me. - Rob
actually the golden age pups are not built cheap at all, they are built exactly the same as schaller(bobbins, base plate, etc) stew mac closed out schallers in favor of these due to the fact they sounded better and were more afforadable than schallerThames said:No... Stewmac Golden Age are korean made, cheap HB's, not related to Schaller.

years ago stew mac was selling these but saying they had II's obviously they were wrong or it was a typoAncient thread, but to clear up any confusion people might get from this thread: per Schaller's site, both the neck and bridge Golden 50 is Alnico 5: http://bass-machine-heads.com/hp135220/Artikel-Liste.htm?ITServ=CY3b41dfcaX12ecb92fac6XY5dbf
