Schaller, Gotoh or Original Floyd Rose?

Re: Schaller, Gotoh or Original Floyd Rose?

OFR and the Schaller licensed version are different, the Schaller licensed has a smaller baseplate and it’s cast. Schaller also made the OFR for Schaller.

Then there’s the Schaller Lockmeister, which combines the solid construction of the OFR with the small footprint of the Schaller licensed

Really? I A/B'd the parts from a Lockmeister and a new OFR, and came to the conclusion that each part was identical in size and weight.

I agree, I think the Schaller Lock Meister, the Orig Floyd and the Kahler Steeler are very similar in specs and construction.

There are two Schaller bridges based off the Floyd Rose.

Yep Washburn used the top one with the thick plate on a number of the USA guitars as did Gibson Hamer and Carvin also. I absolutely HATE those systems!! Lower plate is very soft and has a nasty tendency for the screw holes to strip that hold the saddles. That and also the tone just is not the same as a normal Floyd. I recommend avoiding that thick plate version of the Schaller Floyd like the plague as have had serious issues several times with that particular system it's absolute JUNK!!

Well of course whichever fits is the first step.

I've owned many-a-floyds and I would have no issue with Schaller, Gotoh, OFR, or Edge. Can't go wrong.
