Schaller LockMeister

Re: Schaller LockMeister

I really like the Schaller fixed bridge. I always thought the bridge/tailpiece could use a good re-engineering. It looks cool too.

Re: Schaller LockMeister

Ive always loved Schaller Floyds.. They just seem and feel more solid to me. Probably just mental, in knowing that they are top notch and not a deviation of.. But the ones on my old US Washburns feel bullet proof. And heck, if an OFR costs twice as much as prev mentioned. NO brainer getting the Schaller

Re: Schaller LockMeister

Ibanez Edge and Gotoh are more superior. The Gotoh actually comes with a brass block stock (as those mounted in Jap Fernandes). The Edge is smoother in handling, thanks to lower profile and longer trem.

Re: Schaller LockMeister

If the Gotohs retrofit OFR these days it might be something to look into; stock brass blocks would indeed be an interesting choice. A quick search suggests that they might be hard to find in Europe, though, but ordering from overseas isn't too hard these days. I've never gotten along with the Ibanez Edges. I find that they feel more clinical than the traditional FR (which I suppose you call "smoother in handling"), and it sucks a bit of the excitement out of using it for me. Between the tremolo and the typical thin and wide neck profiles I've never gotten gas for any Ibanez shredsticks.

Price-wise, I'd go with Gotoh in Asia.

Not sure about the price in EU and NA, though.

They do totally retrofit.

I have 2 for sale in the trading post. One is virtually new with maybe an hour of use on it
