Schatten AT-04 piezo Archtop Guitar Pickup

Anybody tried one of these replacement bridge and piezo transducer assembly thingies? http://www.schattendesign.com/archtop.htm

Of late, I have been GASsing for a Yamaha AEX1500 or an Ibanez George Benson GB15. It occurs to me that it would be far more cost effective to add something like this to my Guild X-170.

Pretty interesting. Is it supposed to be used along with magnetic pickups, or just on its own on an acoustic archtop?

Either.

The official product description implies that the piezo signal would run through its own output socket. This makes sense if an in-line pre-amp is likely to be used. It also makes sense when running discrete amplification for the piezo and magnetic pickup signals. Integrating the Schatten AT-04 with any guitar's existing magnetic pickup control harness could get pretty complex.
