Schecter Blackjack SLS

Re: Schecter Blackjack SLS

In my opinion, buying a Schecter is a great way to turn like $700 into $300 or a guitar you get bored of and can never resell.

I love their designs on paper. I wish they would make ONE that sounded and felt good.

That's a pretty poor general statement.

I've had a Schecter C1 Hellraiser (I put in a set of P-Rails) for about 5 years now and it is wonderful in every way. It's my #1 and I could care less what you or the "market" thinks it's resale is worth because it isn't an investment...it's my player.

Good to hear that Doc

Re: Schecter Blackjack SLS

After having problems with both a Gibson LP JR and a Fender Blacktop Jaguar I finally settled on a Schecter C-1 Custom. Let me just say that any inconvenience I experienced has been squashed. This is, without a doubt, the best sounding and most versitile guitar I've ever owned. I paid $100 extra and was greeted with a Custom Custom in the bridge with a 59 in the neck, locking tuners, and coil taps. This is the 2nd Schecter I've owned, previous was an S-1 Standard which was also a great guitar, and would reccomend them without a second thought. They may not have the name recognition of Fender or Gibson but in the end, who cares. Any Schecter I've played has been great and never needed any setting up. They sound and play great and that's all that matters, not the resell value or name.

Awesome! Im going into town soon to check out some schecters, have a look at their quality etc, but I gotta wait for a while before the SLS series comes into Australia.

Re: Schecter Blackjack SLS

I love my C-1 fr sustainiac SLS. I am actually prob gonna get an avenger sls, too. The thinner satin neck is seriously a dream. I admit, I have been a big schecter guy for a couple years now, but compared to my older models (atx avenger and synyster special), the sls is by far my favorite.

I can see why people complain about the inlays, but it really isn't that bad. I would prefer dots or crosses, but for what its worth, I am more than happy with it. I will say for those of you looking into the sustainiac versions, the sustainiac pickup is louder and more powerfull than the full shred, so be prepared to compensate for that.

Do I want a hellraiser extreme or another sls....such a tough question....I will prob get both. The satin necks make playing so much smoother

Thats awesome! how does the full shred sound in it?

I am totally with you on the satin neck issue, they are soo much better than thicker gloss coats (unless they're good quality guitars) in my opinion.

I think the inlay looks bad on the blue, but it works for the satin black.

Boy, I'm looking forward to playing one when they get in australia

Got to play a few LTD's today, cool guitars but i'm not big on the super-strat shapes that seem to dominate the market

Re: Schecter Blackjack SLS

I will tell you now that you will love it. I read a lot of reviews about the full shred online whilr deciding if I wanted one. A lot of the reviews said it was a one trick pony. Of course this is subjective, but I disagree. I have been able to get all the sound I want from it. With the volume all the way up on the guitar, it has an awesome metal/ thrash sound. Notes really stand out with it. Unlike invaders which I find often drown out certain notes, every lick stands well on its own. Even tho I have the fr, the sustain is pretty amazing with it. The string thru of the avenger model will be even better. You will be pleased.

I have pretty much left my amp settings alone (ie distortion at 10) and when I want to switch to say maybe a more Creedence sound, I just drop the guitars volume and up the master vol on my amp a bit. Its a good pickup. Very versatile, even more so if I mess w my amp...but I like where it is at. I would def say it is not a one trick pony pickup. You will like it.

And yes, the inlay looks a lot better in person. But so does the satin finish. The guitar is simply beautiful and plays like a dream

Oh boy! awesome news! I heard it was a bright guitar, so I thought the FS might be a strange pup choice, but you have changed my mind about that. I am now going to contact my nearest Schecter dealer and beg them to get a SLS Avenger in so I can try it!
