Schecter C-1 E/A --- Pickup Suggestions Please...

Hey everyone, I'm here again for more pickup suggestions, I have gotten GREAT advice so far from everyone here, thanks! NGD is coming... I am soon (this Friday if FedEx does their job) going to be a Schecter owner. I traded a PRS SE Soapbar II for a Schecter C-1 E/A and I am very excited.

So I have heard this guitar's pickups are just... OKAY. And I was thinking some Nickel covered pickups would look GREAT in this guitar. So I am planning on changing them out (After listening and deciding I don't like them myself of course), and wanted some suggestions on pickup choice.

I would like to have medium-slightly hot output pickups... slightly hotter of course in the Bridge. I have a Kramer with a JB in the bridge, so I'm thinking maybe something just a little less hot than a jb. I thought maybe a SD-59' in the Neck and a Duncan Custom 5 in the bridge?? Maybe? I was also thinking maybe going with Gibson Burstbuckers... Maybe pro / maybe 1 neck - 2 bridge... but not sure. I want this guitar to have kind of an ES-335 type sound - be able to growl a bit, but clean up nice.

Anyone have this guitar and found a good combination of pickups?

Thanks Jeremy... Looks like you like the 59n with a custom 5 bridge combo as well... Any other suggestions?

That guitar is HOT... It would look better with black pickup rings though.

I actually have a schecter c-1 e/a, but it's out of comission right now because of those f'in graphite saddles. They're great when you're playing, but watch out when you're restringing, because it's really easy to shave material off of them. Anyway, back to the reccomendation - I've had it with 2 GFS mean 90's in it, and those sound great - growly and meaty in the bridge, with that same meat in the neck, but a lot more chime. I think, for what you're looking for, I'd go with the Pearly Gates for the neck, because the guitar, as I hear it, is a little heavy in the bass (but very resonant). For the bridge, if it were me (I play blues-rock) I'd go with either the custom 5 or the Pearly Gates bridge (if you want something that mixes with the PGn better). Don't be afraid to go with a vintage output humbucker in the bridge - I find them to be much better distorted once you get used to them. You can't do what I call 'finger dancing' on them - that really light high gain legato work where sustain is so easy that it makes your playing sloppy. You do have to work more, but the result is ultimately more satisfying.

Just got the guitar today!!!! SO... I have not had a chance to plug it into an amp (I'm at my office), but I pulled out the pickups to check the back for the model numbers... and it's a JB Bridge (SH-4), and a Jazz Neck (SH-2N). I'm even MORE excited about this guitar now.

I will let you all know when I get a chance to crank it into my amp! :)
