If you're gonna play rhythm get the hellraiser, if you're more lead then get the Jackson for real! JB in the bridge and hotrails in the neck? That mother should be a lead monster.

Re: schecter c-1 hellraiser fr vs jackson sl3

They can be set up to play equally fast - that's a stupid statement to make.

Go play both, or similar models.

To me, though, it's no contest. I took my Schecters over an RR-1... I'd easily take mahogany + EMG's and an OFR over Alder + Duncans and a licensed Floyd.

Re: schecter c-1 hellraiser fr vs jackson sl3

The Jackson should have a slimmer neck. My friend has a hellraiser and the neck is just a touch fatter than my LTD H series, despite them being very similar guitars.

Re: schecter c-1 hellraiser fr vs jackson sl3

i was under the impression that schecter's generally have fatter necks. my experience is with a C-1 Classic
your point is? I played a Schecter Tempest (thicker neck) and JEM yesterday and I was rip-roarin faster than a ferrari on the Tempest but just normal speed on the JEM. Neck thickness has nothing to do with speed.

But everything to do with carpal tunnel

Much rather the Jackson, I find new era schecters sterile and basic.

Wow that's odd, i wasn't digging around or anything i just thought it was in the latest threads, ****n bizarre i don't understand how i did that.

I just noticed i posted in another thread only 4 minutes earlier. I really don't know how i dug up an old thread when i was only posting on the latest ones.....**** i am gonna be thinking about this for awhile.

When you vote in a thread, it bumps it -- even if you don't post a new comment. Noobs are always doing archeological digs on old threads, many from external web searches, I suspect.

Re: schecter c-1 hellraiser fr vs jackson sl3

Just sold a hellraiser fr (gotten in a trade as a pot sweetener)... BOOORING. Bland sound, average neck (tho ill admit its pretty easy to set lowish action), and the 81tw/89 pups are that unpleasant kind of slightly off from the 81 and 85 they mean to immitate in humbucker mode.

Wood and hardware seem pretty and look to be higher quality than they actually are. Look in the back under the trem cover for some unpleasant ugliness inside.
