Schecter Diamond Plus 7 String, Anything similar?

Hi guys does anyone has experiences in the stock Schecter Diamond Plus 7 string pickups and know which pickups available are similar tonally?

I have a pair of them taken out of a Schecter Omen Extreme 7 installed into a 7321 and really like how it sounds. Just wondered if there is anything similar with more clarity out there. DC resistance is around 8.5k neck and 16k bridge if I remembered correctly..

Check the tone chart on the duncan site. But ya anything from SD will give u more clarity than stocks frm. I also have a 7321. Just ordered a Nazgul for it. Clarity is what i wanted, so i emailed Keith Merrow to get the low down and he pretty much answered what i initially thought but solidified it and made me confident bout my choice

Did you asked about the Pegasus as well? I was looking into that and the Nazgul. The description of the Pegasus seems to be more suitable to my playing style, but I was worried it would be too warm for the RG7321. The Nazgul should have more presence, but if it's anything like the Dactivators 7 then it's not really for me.

I did. He said both are fantastic. Pegasus is more tame. Naz was designed for players who have high gain rigs and want that note clarity but still want an aggressive sound. Distortion is the hottest out of all of them

Lemme find the email

Ive been meaning to play the DeActivators. What did u not like about them?

I'm used to PAFs so I thought Dactivators are a bit too neutral EQ wise, and too punchy for my taste, which I afraid the Nazgul will be. I think it does the active thing pretty well, but I wanted something a bit warmer and more versatile.

Hey Keith,

Im sure you have been bombarded with questions about the Pegasus and Nazgul.

I was just wondering if you had some time to answer some general questions for me.

Basically i am looking for a bridge pickup for 7 string that has clarity with high gain and still punches you in the face.

I have not played a Distortion 7 and i am not ruling that PU out

As far as tone who doesnt like yours and Ola's tone. You guys are great guitar players and i, like many others, believe its always about the player and the fingers when it really comes down to it.

The amps i use for high gain have tons of gain on tap so i really want somethong that can take the high gain by the horns while being clear and not draining notes out.

If you have any questions for me lemme know.

Thank you very much!

Hey there,

Sorry for the late reply, I've been getting quite a few emails lately. Based on what you've described, I'd say the Nazgul is a safe bet. The Pegasus handles gain very well, but its a bit more tame. The Distortion is a classic, and you kinda can't go wrong there, but its very hot. Even hotter than the Nazgul. The Naz was pretty much designed for people who like an aggressive tone, but rely on the amp for gain.

Have fun!

Keith is such a great guy.

Before I knew about this forum he gave me a bit of help.

Hmmm. Interesting. I was thinking the the nazgul would be more saturated. I've had trouble deciding between the two for a single cut mahogany neck thru 7. I'll be playing mostly modern rtythym Chug with some thrash elements.. I want the best saturation and clarity. I was leaning toward the nazgul. I use a peavey vypyr. I still have a couple weeks to decide.

I had "Duncan Designed" pickups in my Schecter 7 string when I bought it.

I had the guitar shipped with an Invader 7 and a 59 7 in the box and when I got the guitar, I wasn't sure right away if I even wanted to change the pickups.

I think a Distortion in the bridge and a 59 in the neck will keep you in the same tonal zip code you have become comfortable with.

Maybe try the invader though for the bridge. I really like my Invader 7.
