Hey guys, I'm currently GASing for a straight-up metal guitar, and the Schecter Hellraisers have caught my eye. My requirements are 1) Strat-style body, 2) Neck-through body or set-through neck (no bolt-ons), 3) Floyd Rose tremolo, and 4) EMG pickups. (I love my Duncan-equipped guitars, but I've wanted an EMG guitar ever since I was a teenager, thanks to Metallica.)
These two models have caught my eye. I'm really trying to avoid getting a guitar that is overly "bright" (which to me translates as "harsh.") Which of these will give me the best chugga-chugga sound without sounding like an icepick in my ears? (I realize that a Strat-body with a Floyd Rose may not be the best for "chugga-chugga," but I'm trying to strike a compromise here between tone and playability preferences.)
HELLRAISER EXTREME C-1 FR
HELLRAISER HYBRID C-1 FR
As you can see they're basically the same, except for the neck (through body vs. set-through) and the pickups (EMG 81/89R vs 57/66).
Looking forward to your opinions. Thanks!
