Schecter Saturn (Pete Townshend)

well...since i'm gonna seal the deal today...i need to start thinking about what i'm really wanting in the guitar tone wise.

the stock pickups are ok, but i'm not crazy about them at all...the neck is pretty good, but a bit muddy and the bridge is still a bit too twangy...they are both covered right now and they are splittable with push/pull pots?!

for necks...i like smooth and buttery (not muddy) so i'm thinking Alnico 2 pro, but i'm open for suggestions to that too?!

for the bridge...i want something with bite and low end growl...but no twang...it's gonna be a little difficult with the big metal bridge plate down there. i'm thinking C5 for this, but i'm still undecided on it too!?

it has a maple/maple neck and i "think" it's a mahogany body, but i could be wrong...correct me if i am?

also...what do you guys think about putting a new bridge and knobs on it...they're pretty oxidized...the bridge still seems to work good and it stayed in tune and was intonated...but for sheer aesthetic purposes i'm "thinking" about eventually replacing it...?

Don't replace the hardware (just my opinion), and I would go with a A2Pro in the neck and a CC in the bridge...Im pretty sure that those guitars are alder...

i kinda wanted to go with zebra pups...but gold covers would be cool too...it would kina give it that LP custom vibe...!?

opinions on these

Seth set Gold covers, and gold hardware

59 Set Nickel covers and nickel hardware

Zebra hums, Alncio 2 pro neck and Custom/Custom bridge, and black hardware (keep current hardware or add new black hardware)

I vote for the original black hardware and zebras...it still keeps the cool PT vibe with a Hoss Twist!

Gold is nice until it starts to pit....
The chrome/nickel looks cool with chrome bezels...
I like the B&W too,

But the cream & black I think would look best!

My number one Tele has been modded because of a Saturn I owned a few years ago. I used a JB in it for a couple of years and it is way too bright for a maple necked Tele. Right now I have a set of 59's in it and it sounds great. I have an AIIP in the neck of my number two Tele and it sounds perfect. My recommendation for the neck would be the AIIP and either a 59B or a Custom bridge.

I like the Custom in the bridge and the Pearly Gates in the neck. Also, keep the pitted hardware. It looks cool.
