Schecter synyster custom vs PRS SE torero?

Anyone out there have an unbiased opinion to share? I play everything from Avenged Sevenfold to AC/DC. Eventually I would be changing the pickups, and after messing with that for a while adding a BMP, if the pups weren't active already.

In my opinion, you need to stop thinking about the PRS and Schecter guitars and just get a good Les Paul. Then, once you really know what that is like you can start to hone in on what you might want next.

In the meantime, a Les Paul will be able to do most anything you could want it to.

Re: Schecter synyster custom vs PRS SE torero?

It doesn't look like a Les Paul really has that much in common with the PRS or the Schecter. Those are both Floyded 25.5"-scale 24-fret neck-through guitars with ebony fingerboards. Frankly, they have more in common with a Jackson Soloist than a Les Paul -- despite the use of mahogany.

Between the two, I've never played them. I will say that the PRS has the benefit of not looking like it was dreamed up for exclusive merchandising in Hot Topic stores.

It always cracks me up that people plan on changing the pickups before they even have the guitar. Get it, play it, give it some time and then if you don't like what you hear go from there.

I don't know much about the Schecter but the PRS SE line is extremely well put together.

this. if it weren't for the inlays, the white/gold schecter would be a serious contender, but a block torero would be hard to beat in this category...

is the torero 25" or 25 1/2" scale?

Getting a signature guitar with someone's name inlayed in the fretboard makes you look like a fanboy. I have a Schecter Avenger with the floyd and love it. The PRS is a sick looking axe too. I'm sure you would be happy with either, but think about the inlay thing before you buy that signature fiddle.

The Schecter is ugly as hell... the torero is 25.5''... one of my friends has a cherry one really cool guitarr, EMGs are great when it comes to low tunning metal.... BUT the custom model from Schecter is got one big advantage: OFR

Of those two options, I'd choose the PRS in every category.

CHeck out the ESP LTD EC1000 w/ the FR. That will cover all styles, give ya the feel on a LP, yet be able to fly/shred like any ibanez/jackson

Yeah my best friend owns the EC-1000. It is nice but not what I'm looking for. I am set on something with better accessibility to the upper frets and such.

On the contrary, A7X ain't really metal. They don't really belong to a genre. Also, for those who say they are posers are straight up stupid, all but they're rythym guitarist and bassist are are trained by the best. And IMO the guys of disturbed are the real posers. DD can't solo for crap(tapping excessively), and their singer (yells agressively to sing and it) sucks. For the risk of sounding like a fanboy, I will stop. I have played the older version of that schecter and it out played all the other PRS, Ibanez, and Gibsons guitars they had at the nearest Guitar Center to me.

Re: Schecter synyster custom vs PRS SE torero?

You're seriously comparing AX7 and Disturbed? They both suck.

Re: Schecter synyster custom vs PRS SE torero?

If you can get behind the awful looks of the Synyster...I can vouch for it being a killer guitar.

Not awful looking you say? Half true, they look cool on Brian. But on anyone else it looks kinda silly. Just like Frankies look ridiculous on anyone but Eddie. Well...they look awful even on Eddie. My point is, that is a highly customized instrument that looks just like a guitar someone from A7X would play. No one else besides Brian and Zack play guitar in that band though, so you get my point.

That said, it's a very well put together instrument for a nice price. The Avenger body shape is surprisingly comfortable too.

Never played a Torero.
