Schematic for some madness

Below is a schematic (thanks Artie) that should get you either HB in series/parallel, either HB spin-a-split, both HB's split together in humcancelling mode in parallel, both HB's split together in humcancelling mode in series with ability to dial up to full HB's in series, and a tone bypass for added measure. The question is: what do you think will happen when the neck HB is put in parallel and the Master Series switch is pulled???

Is there a prize? Am I disqualified? :D

You'll just have the two neck coils in parallel, and those in series with the two bridge coils. Will probably sound a bit muffuddled. ;)

One question: Why?

I don't even mean that sarcastically. I just can't think of why you'd need all those combinations.

You probably wouldn't, but push/pull pots were only diameter that would fit in my epi lp w/o having to route, so if I had to have 'em anyway I might as well make the most of it!

The things is: I was under the impression that for the neck HB to be in parallel, white and green had to go to ground and red and black to hot. When the series switch is pulled, the neck green and white go to black hot, not ground, so it seemed to me you wouldn't get parallel out of the neck in that situation you'd get something...else. Or am I overlooking something?

Like this: (These are all shown with the "master" set to series.)

Artie, you know your shiza bro! That diagram should be vaulted, it clarifies everything.

Re: Schematic for some madness

Thanks, buddy, but one of these days, I need to take a break from this place and get my own "guitar electronics" webpage finished.

Maybe . . . this year. :)

Re: Schematic for some madness

You know, if you don't have the room for a switch, you can always run one less tone or volume pot and put a DPDT switch in, right? Besides, I wouldn't go with parallel/out-of-phase, just a split. The others aren't worth having that much versatility. If you need that much, honestly, why not get one of those does-everything PRS guitars or something that comes set up this way? Or even go custom with a Carvin?

Probably a good plan. Instead of constantly feeding us starving mortals fish, you can dig a little pond for us to fish from. :fingersx:
