School me on 10 inch speakers~~>

I've been using celestion G10L-35's in 4x10 cabs for yrs, and really like the warmth they give me .. celestion doesnt make these anymore and I need to replace a couple in one of my cabs.

I tried a couple 60w from mojo tone which were good .. but just a bit too bright for my taste. I need that warmth ...

can someone recommend a 10 that has the same or close to the same tone as the G10L's?

Thanks ~G

I'm not familiar with the speakers you mention, but I can recommend the Weber Silver 10 if you're looking for a warmer sounding speaker. They emphasize the bass and midrange, while having warmer sounding highs. I use two of these in my Classic 50, along with two Weber Blue Pups.

Orbiter,

You really find the G10L-35 warm ? I tried them, and while they were pretty good 10 inchers (quite surprising for a "general" 10" Celestion), there are other speakers out there with much more warmth. You could try Weber, but if you're into gainy OD, distortion or high-gain, they might not suit you. I'd suggest to take a look at newer Eminence Patriot and RedCoat series. Fine speakers.

Stay away from the Celestion Vintage 10... moreover, they're all made in china so....

I find it alot warmer than the alnico's and mojo's and other celestions I've tried .. tons of mids .. nice bottom and no *schrill* treble. but when I want clean it def. there for me.

I have heard great things about weber.. but yes I do like my OD, fuzz, and high gain .. am I outta luck cus that sounded pretty good.

although I can't/dont use these w/ my bigger amps ... I'm having great luck w/ 20-30 watt class A amps .. and my mesa 20/20 ...

I've been looking at eminence's new line ... the one that looks like it would work for me is rated 100 watts .. and I like the speaker breakup I get w/ the 35's .so that kinda worries me.. thats been my problem w/ some of the others .. just too dang clean and sparkley for my style and flavor..

I find eminence's new marketing scheme very interesting .. hard to pull people away from the names they know .. marshall celestion etc...

thanks for the input and advice guys

Yeah. A fresh new breeze. And right timing! Considering Celestion moved their facility to China and raise their prices...
