"Scooped mid" single coils

Hello guys,
I'm curious about scooped mids singles offered by some manufacturer. What are they supposed to do?
I know john mayer use something similar, but I don't notice anything different with his tone?
Isn't the general consensus, people prefer hot, fat singles for blues?

The way they are wound creates bigger bass response & a matching treble ,kind of leaving the mids behind
very nice glassy cleans .clearer tone than something with more mids
On the other side of things with gain they can sound mushy (depending on how much gain) more of an hendrix tone than Srv

Personally, the older i get the more i like lower output less middy pups. Being as i use middy amp/pedals, its a nice balance.

I suspect you are talking about Klein. Id love to have a set of his JazzyCats.

To my ears a regular vintage class Strat pickup *is* scooped.

Strat pickups are famous for being bright and percussive. However a lot of the positive qualities of strat pickups at low volume and distortion levels become negatives at high volumes and distortion levels. The treble response and percussiveness which make a strat sound lively and expressive at low volume turn into noise and mush at high volumes. The Klein pickups try to broaden and sweeten the treble frequencies, while deepening and tightening the low frequencies. It makes sense if you are in a band with a keyboardist or if the band is based around someones vocal style. Why crowd the midrange?
