I didn't do a lead-in, just dropped the original into a track in Audition and recorded mine on a separate track. Intro's a bit sloppy. Haven't played for any length of time over the past 2 years and all my callouses wore off, so I was doing this with a big blister on the tip of my ring and pinky.

Listening to this in Winamp through my TV/PC monitor, it sounds overly compressed. Through my monitors it sounds fine, just balls-loud.

As an aside, those two in your sig pic look like they're dancing to RTL :lol:

I forget if WinAmp (while whipping the llama's ass) has built-in compression... For some reason I think it does.

RTL? Not familiar. Those are Matt Smith and Karen Gillan, The 11th Doctor and Amy Pond from Doctor Who.

Also I was playing around with mic angle and distance. I'm hearing a bit of low-midrange "bark" on the original CD track, but since I use my TV speakers (and a surround sound system) it could be coloration by those speakers. The original track coming out of my recording monitors still has a bit more treble rolloff than my track, but the sound coming out of the cabinet isn't as grainy/sizzly as my track.

With the way Windows is (mis)handling my sound devices, I can't get Winamp to whip the llama's @$$ through my monitors, and can't get my miked cab through my surround sound (which may be a good thing), so the only way I can hear both tracks together is through my monitors in Audition.

I also had to boost the track volume by about 3dB to keep mine from getting buried, but without overpowering the original.
