Scored an Epip "Studio" Dot........pics

I got it at what I think is a decent price ($160). The previous owner modded it and I'm interested to see the job they did. Apperently they refinished the body w/red nitro and the neck w/black nitro and clear nitro finish. They also added aonther tone pot and another volume pot making it like the regular Dot guitars (the reg studio comes w/ 1vol, 1tone and the toggle switch). They added the reg Epip Dot pups instead of the stock Epip Studio Dots (I'll probably change that...see the Pickup Lounge).

Here are some pics, what do ya'll think......

I'll post my own pic and review when I get it.

That's one of those tomato's. I dig the black neck. Classy. I could jazz it up with that. 160 is a good deal - they run 299 regular I think. Sweet Tomato baby!

I think scary has one of those...

How does it play? I've picked up a bunch of those. Most were meh. But every now and again I hit one that was really good. Not amazing - but for the price very impressive!

I have one of those in Tomato.

He's right on...someone did it in a different color. The Tomato is lighter in color. Think of that color if you left the guitar in the front window of a guitar shop for a year or so.

Interesting though...they plowed all this time and money into the axe and ended up with a regular Dot Studio minus the Dots and some two tone.

The Dot Studios did come in Black. I wonder if they just shot another color onto the body. Do the levels look right on them?

They're nice axes. The biggest issues I had with mine was that the pickups were too hot and there were only two pots.

I figured out the pot issue by going with stacked pots. It worked out quite well.

For pickups I hemmed and hawwed over them for awhile beifre emailing Peter Bitloft at Vintage Vibe Guitars. We went back and forth for a bit and he put together a set that just slay anything else I've ever played. They ARE that vintage PAF sound I was looking for in it.

Have a blast with it!
