Scream Aim Fire Cover Mix - 5150 Content (Duncan JB)

Re: Scream Aim Fire Cover Mix - 5150 Content (Duncan JB)

Ha ha.

NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should record some Opeth, Sikth & Spiral Architect tracks. I'm interested to how they'd sound "Raw" with the 5150.

do you know how much i want a ****in 5150/6505 now?!?? NICE!!

The 6505 isn't the same amp as the 5150.

The 6505 seems like an attempt by Peavey to break into the Mesa Recto market and is likely to break down whereas the 5150 has a great lead tone & i know a few guys who've had theirs since brand new and they've survived gigging.

A used 5150 is on my shopping list.

tis the same amp Steve, i know someone who works at peavey and thats what he has said. The triple xxx is more the recto attempt :p

Very nice playing and luv the guitar tone. The song is cool, too!

Re: Scream Aim Fire Cover Mix - 5150 Content (Duncan JB)

They don't sound the same though.......

The major difference is in the tubes, they changed them even in the 5150s every couple of years so that is the reason afaik, and the only other thing changing is the transformer I think apart from cosmetics. You can probably bet that theyve started using cheaper components though i would think... maybe like every manufacturer does over the years/

Hey man. I'm sorry for bumping your thread, but I'm simply in love with your tone; it's crazy tight. It's the reason why I'm keeping my JB in my main ESP. Are you running a boost in front? What does your amp's EQ look like? I'm gonna try out a 5150 when I get the chance. Keep up the good work. Post more stuff! Thanks.

Hey Rydock,

Yep, theres my modded ibanez tube screamer in front of the 5150. Funnily enough, the amp settings are fairly low gain (it is a 5150 tho) @ 3.5 and a standard heavy metal smile setting. Its in the mixing where the mids got boosted majorly, but the tone was fairly tight straight in. I may take some screenies if i get chance. After my uni exams i'll get something else in the pipeline! :burnout:
