Screamin demon or Becker?

Re: Screamin demon or Becker?

No way you can pick out what model of pickup was used on that track. Try to track down who recorded it and ask them. I got 50 bucks that says its neither of what you think though.

Re: Screamin demon or Becker?

Hah i just noticed he has a rig diagram on his website but it just says "guitar" but gdam hes running a triaxis rig and a CA OD100 with a lexicon processor and a GSP 2101 (brings back chills down my spine of former band mates) its quite a set up.

Re: Screamin demon or Becker?

well i got the surprise of my life, he uses the stock pickup on the Ibanez S540 series from 1993 it is a IBZ/USA
This is a dimarzio wound pickup for ibanez

Dimarzo! hah i called it... jk...sorta

Ah finding the track wasnt too hard... most youtubers use free music tracks so they dont violate copyright and have their videos taken down but they have to give credit in their video description.

I looked in the video description of the first video you linked and it gave me the track then searched youtube and got the guys name, popped that into google and bam.. got the guys website...

Re: Screamin demon or Becker?

I believe you could special order that from dimarzio, if they still offer it. However, it was $110 a pickup last I heard about someone getting one. Dimarzio says there is no equivalent, but the closest sounding model is the Tone Zone.

I watched this comparison of the F2 and air zone and the air zone was clearer but had that basic tone
I do have a tone zone and it does not sound like that tracks lead tone?

yeah you did say dimarzio;)
I am shocked to see was a IBZ/USA F2 though?

Re: Screamin demon or Becker?

I wouldnt have guessed F2.. His signal chain is pretty extensive. He uses multiple stages of compression and EQ which are im sure contributing to hiding the pickups character

Re: Screamin demon or Becker?

Funny how on here we get so caught up on pickups exclusively for tone. This I think I really highlights how important the amp is. With a killer rig like and all the processing, pickups won't make a big difference in the actual tone you are hearing. Feel, for sure....but not alot in regard to what you hear.

Yes you are so correct and it has me re-thinking my whole way of looking at the pickups now.
I don't think just buying what he used is going to do it, i use a mesa MK V 25 and a old rocktron blackface intellifex for reverb, delay and some occasional chorus.
I am using a WLH and i love it but miss that "aw" vowel sound from a JB or demon i used to get.
I am pretty sure it is the boost in the upper mids that gets that?
a LOT of dimarzio's have that tone but they are too dark for me overall, they don't have that in your face present tone of a duncan.
They all seem to have that "smoother" treble to them?
I have tried many dimarzio's and keep coming back to duncans.
is there a pickup like the WLH but with the more vocal "aw" tone?
maybe the becker?

maybe the becker or go back to a screamin demon?

Re: Screamin demon or Becker?

I'm a huge Demon/JB fan, but I think the Becker is more of what you're after

Cool i have not tried one but love every clip i have seen/heard of it so i guess it would be win/win for me.
is the becker in any way like a hotter demon?
like on here the demon is real percussive but sings great and has that "aw" to it

just wondering if the becker has those qualities before i spend the $95 on one?
it does sound awesome here, and definitely has the Aw tone to it.
