im gonna get one in about 30min.

its gonna be JB bridge, APS-1 mid, and Demon neck.

i know from Rowan that the Demon /JB combo in maple is awesome. But im installing it in my alder yamaha with 250k pots.

Thanks.

Re: Screamin' Demon with 250k pots

I had a Demon in the bridge with 300k pots , and it was not bright at all , and i tried it in the neck in the same guitar ; dark neck pickup .

i got a really old demon! its only 2 conductor! i always thought it was 4

Re: Screamin' Demon with 250k pots

Use 500k pots and just roll the tone back a bit if you want to take off some highs and fatten it up...

Step up a gauge on strings and use a heavier pick if that's not enough.

Re: Screamin' Demon with 250k pots

I've often wondered if the Demon wasn't designed with 250k pots in mind.

Re: Screamin' Demon with 250k pots

I had better results with 300K than 500K with the Demon. That was easier to accommodate in a guitar with independent controls for each pickup. When the neck and bridge want two different values and you've got shared volume and tone pots then I'd go with the higher value, as you can always roll off highs but you can't put them back.

I wasn't a fan of the Demon in the neck, but that has more to do with my preference for sweeter and warmer pickups in the neck position.

Re: Screamin' Demon with 250k pots

I imagine a demon would have more cream in the neck with 250 or 300k pots . With 500k its like the 59 but a good deal more treble, output, and crunch. Although the crunch factor doesn't compare with a JB or other similar pickup.

I was in the studio today with my band and although we did only the drums, I listened to the rough guitar tracks and MAN the demon is awesome for solos. Not too over the top, and very vocal. Much more vocal and sweet than my JB. The treble of the pickup really cuts for a neck pickup. Also I found that the middle position between a demon and JB is pretty nice. You get the crunch from the JB but also the bass and added clarity from the demon neck and best of both lead tones.

Never tried it out brother, also my guitar is set thru mahagony/maple neck but its brighter than my bolt on basswood axe.
