Screwholes dont line up in TB-4

The screwholes in the TB-4 I bought for my fat strat dont exactly line up correctly when its placed in the guitar. What's the best solution for fixing this? If i need to cut the pickguard, what should I use? Thanks.

Is the TB-4 generally a tight fit in fat strats? Does the pickguard need to be cut or can I make it fit with a little more persuasion? The ribbon-looking stuff that wraps around the outside (I dont know what its called) is being pushed down a little when I put the pickup into place.

I would just take some sandpaper and widen the holes for the pickup is not so snug in the pickguard.
