Just connect the bridge humbucker without the electronics. Some crocodile clips to the cable. Good first line test. Suggested many times here. Nothing will happen.

Sorry if I missed it (wow, lots of talky-talk in this thread), but has the OP done these absolute basic, easy checks yet?

1. Verified both coils are working by tapping them with something metal, like a screwdriver?

2. Measured the resistance of the pickup (using the guitar cable/multi-meter method)?

You mean directly to a 1/4" jack?

Doesn't matter. I usually go to the cable, with the connectors screwed open, not to the guitar's jack. You would have to disconnect the rest of the guitar from the guitar's jack for this test, not necessary.
