Re: SD Blackout vs. EMG 81/85
Nope and I have no intention to do so if I have to pay for it.
But what would it change anyways?
I'm very opinionated about this subject (Blackouts) and the fact that Duncan seems to have copied EMGs and then pretend theirs are better.
EMGs ARE kings and pioneers in active pickup design. Seymour Duncan (or any other company...) won't be able IMO to touch EMGs anytime soon.
Seymour Duncan passive pickups just KILLS passive EMGs though.
Both companies have their strengths and weaknesses, but EMG definitely wins any active battle over any manufacturer IMO. Can't be any other way...I'm a very traditional guy and the original is always the best to me.
Aye, respectable enough, if you don't wanna try em and you're happy with what you got, why fix what aint broke?
But to tout the superiority of EMGs over blackouts without having any real-world knowledge about the latter makes your arguments a bit hollow, you see? Severely lacking in substance.
Virtual_kevorkian here clearly lays out why he likes EMG's more than blackouts, and while I think he's friggin nuts (

), I respect his opinion, cause I know that he's a solid player and very thorough with his gear.
I'd ask that you reserve judgment until you've had some experience with blackouts, but that's up to you bro.
It's cool that you like EMG's so much. If they work for you, they work for you. But this is only guitar gear we're talking about...try not to take it to heart

.
*edit* I see that much of what I have said has already been covered...oh well. Peace
