SD Custom Custom Bridge for SD '59 neck?

Hi there,
I asked earlier about magnet swapping to match a Pearly Gates bridge to a SD '59 neck but I may change my mind to use Pearly Gates in the bridge. I found that high-mid tone is just a bit too hard to handle even if I swap magnets.
I can get a used Custom Custom bridge here in Calgary.
Would you recommend that to be a better fit for '59n?
I like a versatile setup for classic rock and a nice clean but expressive tone for some blues and jazz as well.
My original Les Paul pickups were 490R/498T and I was almost happy with them but they were a bit muddy and boomy and not a lot in the definition and expression department.
I'm going to change the '59 magnet to A3 to make it more mid-rangy and brighter / transparent and less boomy.
Would the output drop too much for a custom custom or still I will deal with a mis-matched tone?
SD suggests a Jazz or Pearly Gates for the neck position.
What do you think?
Thanks.

So, other than being muddy and boomy, and lacking in definition and expression, they're pretty good PU's then?

A custom custom in the b?

Custom Custom is a particular pup. I don't know that I would recommend it with a Les Paul. Do a search on that. It isn't for everyone in a bridge. I had one and loved it - considering why I had it.

I had one and it worked pretty bad with a mahognay epi SG I had, it worked really good with my ash strat, maybe to my taste it's not well suited for warm woods, maybe better for medium bright ones

the Custom Custom is amazing with alder and ash, but never dared to try it in the neck. I'd pass on that and look for a Whole Lotta Humbucker instead.

I liked the CC that I had in my les paul. In the end it just had too much output for the stuff I was doing.

I was using it in a fairly bright Epi LP Classic to play Woman-tone era Clapton, Allmans, slide and such. It was awesome for that (with a PG neck).

But it may be simultaneously too much miss, too fat high, and too loose bass - depending on the tone you want!

In a trem bridge strat style….usually awesome. Have one in a Dean Custom 350 right now. It's all kinds of excellent.

I'm about to install a custom custom in my all mahogany explorer this weekend, will report back with my results, but I am going for a really dark tone just fyi
