SD equivalent of a Gibson Tony Iommi sig. pup?

Which SD pup would come close in tone and output to this Gibson hb?

I'm just looking around at the pups currently available on the local used market... this is one of them, aside from Alnico II Pro, 59B f-spaced.

I'm thinking of putting it in a Aria Pro II TA-60 335 copy, bridge spot. An Antiquity is going in the neck. And I don't know what to pair it with. The Aria is a full-hollow and I'm loving it... really light, and a bit smaller than most 335's.

I had an Iommi in an Epi LP before, and I'm curious how it (or it's SD equivalent) would do in a hollow body...

Would appreciate your comments and suggestions. Thanks!

Jaime G.

btw, forgot to mention that i already have Antiquities and 59's in other guitars so I'm kinda looking around first for something else, preferably something that will enhance the hollowness of this guitar and complement the Antiquity in the neck, and can do a rich mellow clean... if possible

They sound very cool in a Hollowbody...and a semi solid, and right now mine are in an aluminum neck Kramer and I love it!!! That said there are 2 things you need to know, there is not a Duncan that sounds anything like an Iommi, and an Iommi will by far out power an Antiquity...not that louder is better, but your neck pickup won't be able to keep up if you do that...

the guy who invented,

Thanks! That's interesting! My Iommi was paired with a '57 Classic in the lp, and they sounded great together for rhythm playing, but the Iommi by itself seemed dull and lifeless at low volume.

If you say they wouldn't sound balanced, then I'll look at other pups too then. The Iommi probably wouldn't fit in the "rich, mellow, clean" mold in any case.

Not a Duncan, but the MightyMite Motherbucker (the new one, not the old 3-coil design) gets me REALLY close to Iommi territory. It's wound to 20k with an Alnico 5 magnet, and the vibe is surprisingly vintage. Another plus is that they're pretty inexpensive.

Thanks guys for your inputs.

Other used pickups are being made available to me to choose from, and I thought I might run them by the forum for any comments on incompatibility w the neck Antiquity...

SD Alnico Pro II neck. (will this be too weak in the bridge spot? or can I just compensate by lowering neck pup and bringing bridge pup higher?)
'59 bridge F-spaced (any issues with F-spacing? uneven vol on reg. string spacing?)

Thanks in advance for any inputs...

hmmm... I guess the topic title should have been broader. Begging your indulgence pls.

btw, a Screamin' Demon is a 4th option... would that be a better option than the Iommi?

Does anyone know how a Gibson 500T stacks up to a Iommi bridge pickup tone wise?
