SD gold covers and Epiphone gold hardware, do they match?

To my eyes, it's the pickup covers that look the worst for wear over time, compared to the other hardware items.

There is an alternative to using gold plated pickup covers. It requires some DIY skills and patience though.

That being, plastic pickup covers with gold foil adhesive tape that has been custom cut and applied.

Two benefits: lack of metal in the cover, so the pickups' high frequencies won't be affected, and lower cost to replace after years of wear - in this case, you re-use the same plastic covers and just re-do the gold foil sticker tape.

If the Epi is brand new, the gold has a better chance of matching. It tends to change the shine and saturation over time, and that is what is difficult to match.

Yes, Its a brand New Epiphone SG Custom, the original pickup were microphonic big time, couldn't even use a tight crunch distortion similar to Nuno's without it squealing like a pig at about 1 on the volume dial on a 100w amp

That’s a lot of work for something that doesn’t look plated.

Update on the Custom 5...had it installed today, the gold was a perfect match....but, alas...the pickup is microphoic, just as bad as the one I replaced, so its going back for an exchange, this time without a cover.

Worst match ever is on a modern Gibson Studio w/gold hardware, because I could just swear those tuners look like plastic!
^Yes it's a modern Gibson jab,,,,,,I do hope they climb back though. My first nice guitar was a mid-80s studio w/gold.
