SD NPD: Shape Shifter

Added a Shape Shifter to my board yesterday, my first SD pedal, and really happy with a) it's sound, and b) how it plays with my other tones. I'd tried a number of other tremolo pedals, but they all seemed geared to fast cycles, with very little flexibility in the "slow throb" end of the dial where I like to play. The Shape Shifter's tap tempo and sub-division approach is a perfect fit for me.

Re: SD NPD: Shape Shifter

It's basically taking all my self-control not to order one right now. Next month.

Re: SD NPD: Shape Shifter

yeah, i think i need one for this new project i have gotten involved in ... but man that is a lot of cheese for a specialty pedal .... not sure if i am gonna look for a good -enough lower priced pedal or just splurge on a luxury taht i won't even use most of the features of

the demos are quite seductive - great great tones and features

Worth every penny - has only got better as I've got to know it. The combo of Phase90 - Flashback Delay - Shape Shifter is really something.

Re: SD NPD: Shape Shifter

My Shape Shifter just came in. It's displacing a VHT Melo-verb that is pretty good and pretty flexible. The control set and parameter range are just more complete with the Shape Shifter. You can do everything you'd expect from a tremolo, but at the outer limits are special effects, electronica, and space noises. Never mind that it's stereo. I feel like this is a tremolo I can use to explore musical ideas, instead of something I just kick on for the same static effect every time.

Re: SD NPD: Shape Shifter

It sounds amazing in stereo, and not just for guitar either. Really good for keys, bass, and backing vocals! I've also put mine in the loop of a Vapor Trail delay, so only the echoes have trem on them.

Re: SD NPD: Shape Shifter

I think Teuffel makes a guitar with 3 momentary switches- one is a kill switch, one cuts off the signal and adds squealing microphonic feedback, and another one adds loud hum, like from a broken cable. I don't know what relevance it has, other, than a cool idea for a pedal would be to insert noise in between the guitar signal at a specified rate.

Re: SD NPD: Shape Shifter

Prymaxe had 20% off for memorial day so I sprung for a shape shifter ... free 2 day shipping g had it to my door in time for rehearsal today
Pedal is excellent. .. Until tap tempo became a thing for tremelo pedals, I never missed it ... now that it's a thing I can't imagine playing without it ... already 2 of my band's original tunes sound better ... quiet, not a dramatic loss of level when engaged, lotsa versatility and the tap tempo just seems to make the tune seem better locked into the swamp groove the tune calls for

Get one!

Re: SD NPD: Shape Shifter

Tap tempo is huge, and I wonder how I got along without it. For trems, & delays, I use it all the time.

Re: SD NPD: Shape Shifter

yup, my SD shape shifter sits right after my SD deja vu tap tempo delay

... which sits right after my SD twin tube classic

... which comes after my SD pickup booster (first in the chain) ...
