SD Pickup Booster + Wireless?

I've noticed that whenever I use my Shure PGX wireless system, my guitar signal's input gain goes down just enough that I can hear a slight difference; it's like the pickups have become a bit weaker. I know that the gain loss is due to the fact that the signal is transmitted wirelessly, so I'm wondering if putting a booster between the amp and the wireless receiver would fix this problem.

I was thinking of the SFX-01 because it has up 25db of clean boost, right? Would this solve the slight decrease in output and bring the signal's gain back up on par with a cable?

Oh and one more thing, I know that Seymour Duncan explains that the resonance switch does not work with a wireless unit. I'm using humbuckers so I don't need the switch. I just want to raise the output level back to where it should be.

I would think that that would work fine. But do you keep your amp "dimed"? Couldn't you just turn the volume up a notch or two?

I've found it's not the volume level that's the problem. It's the input gain and how it affects the tone of the Crunch channel. If I just turn up the preamp volume or the gain to try and compensate, it just gets fuzzier and thinner. It's hard to explain, but it's like hitting the preamp with a louder signal makes the tone rounder and better overall, without actually affecting the volume level.

It's the same with any distortion channel. The signal's already saturated so much that adding more volume only increases compression.

I have the Shure "Guitarist" wireless unit and mine actually has an input gain trimmer I can adjust....Your's doesn't have that?

Very interesting. It looks like that Dragster is meant exactly for that purpose. Do you think it would be a better choice than the SD Pickup Booster?

Yes. I'm sure the SC Booster would be a fine addition to your pedal arsenal if you don't already have something similar, but the Dragster adds some warmth/fullness back in as opposed to boosting a signal that has already been thinned out by the wireless unit.

The PGX system is multiple use (mike, guitar, lavalier), so it has a gain selector vs. a trim pot.

That's a very good point. I think I'll go pick one up and then I'll report my findings. Thanks man!
