SD pickups & Fender Pickups combined, out of phase?

hey guys need help here.. I have an American Deluxe Fat Strat Fender with 5 way super switch, I put SS-5 in neck position, JB TB4 in bridge position and the fender noiseless in middle position. When I switch to position 2,3,4 i get a thin quacky sound especially in the 4th position. I read in the SD wiring diagram that..
"If two pickups sound thin and wimpy when used together, chances are, they’re out of phase with each other. If you’re combining your Seymour Duncan pickup(s) with Fender® pickup(s) in the same guitar, you’ll need to reverse the black and white wires on the Seymour Duncan. In other words, solder the white wire to ground and the black wire to the selector switch."

do I have to reverse both the neck and bridge wires? I know the easiest way is to change the middle pickup with RWRP pickup but here in my country is difficult to get one of those RWRP pickups..

thanks for the help guys.. :1:

Re: SD pickups & Fender Pickups combined, out of phase?

so what are position 2, 3, and 4?

i assume 2 is neck/middle and 4 is middle/bridge. it does sound like those are out of phase. do you split the middle pup when you use it with the neck?

whats pos 3?

if both neck and bridge pup are out of phase with the middle then yes, you need to flip some wires. if you put the neck and middle pups top to top, do they repel or attract?

Re: SD pickups & Fender Pickups combined, out of phase?

Fender are typically the other polarity, so yes you've got phase issues. As you've got only 1 fender (in the middle position), its easier just swapping hot/ground for that one......not sure about posi 3 though. Thats typically middle by itself and shouldn't sound OOP.

pos 2 is bridge & middle, pos 3 is middle and pos 4 is middle & neck.. well I've never tried that before hehehe maybe I'm gonna try that later..
