SD SH-6 vs EMG-81

Got a new Kramer Les Paul Custom. The pups in them sound pretty decent but, I'd like to replace them. I'm stuck between 2 pups. SH-6 Distortion and EMG-81. My favorite bands are Nirvana, Guns N' Roses, Ozzy w/Zakk Wylde, JunkYard, Metallica, Godsmack, Korn, STP, Velvet Revolver, Jet, Puddle of Mudd, Van Halen, ZZ Top, Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, Alice in Chains, Motley Crue, Audioslave, SoundGarden. And I like to play some softer stuff like Johnny Cash and some new and old country. Basically I'm really big on rock, grunge, metal, classic rock and some softer stuff. Which one of these pups can do that? And if anybody else has any other pups suggestions in mind, please tell me.

Of those two, I think that the Distortion is the more versatile of the two. Granted, I have no experience with the 81, but I did swap out an 89 for a Distortion and the change was most definitely for the better.

I have used both, as much as I love the EMG81. It's not going to do all that, the Distortion is the better pic out of the two.

WORD!!!!!!

dude, a friend of mine just bought a pair of 81's and they're nuts for like slayer-type stuff. but, i think distortions are good for all other types of metal. i love them both, cuz i enjoy metal and other kinds of music. and i'm also very drunk, cuz it's new years.....i mean c'mon.

out.

Distortion all the way, go with the passive, you may be happier in the long run.
btw ozzy sounded much better when Randy Rhoads played for him :fing2:
Rock On :smoker:

word to that, rhoads is the man. he gave them a classier sound that sounded much more unique than wylde's tone.

I hate Randy's tone, as much as I hate to say it. I love his playing, but his tone to me was total ass!

Distortion all the way, or for better cleans and more versatility, with a little bit less in the agression dpt, a JB.
