SD SSL-1 = 5,4K and not 6,4K, why ?

I have 2 SD SSL-1, one is 6,4K and and the other one (that says "SD 2 87"on the back) is only...5, 4K !!! Could some pickups gurus explain this for me please ?

Re: SD SSL-1 = 5,4K and not 6,4K, why ?

Possibilities:

1) Your multi-meter is on the fritz, giving accurate reads sometimes but not others (if so, change battery).

2) The 5.4k one was left in the fridge for a bit.

3) The 5.4k one isn't actually an SSL-1.

4) _______________________(somebody else fill this one in...)

4) You're measuring them in circuit.

Well? Are ya? LOL.

It's common for a pickup's DC Resistance to drop a couple tenths when wired in but not that much. I ran across that same thing with my Texas Specials. Turned out to be the parallel resistor in the TBX tone control doing it. Rewiring the TBX differently solved that problem.

Perhaps theyre in the guitar, wired up n all.. and the neck or middle one is being probed at the jack, then the bridge. But the bridge does not go via the tone control. So reports a diferent value.

Am i talkin trash here?
