SDUG ULTIMATE AXE - Category 6; Hollow and Semi Hollow

Re: SDUG ULTIMATE AXE - Category 6; Hollow and Semi Hollow

Sorry, it's the only pic I have of my Thinline, and I'm not anywhere near the guitar right now (will not be for another two weeks).

I really dig that! If I ever pick up a tele it'll have to be one of those. I like the photo, too!

Was viewing this thread and decided to make an account so I could show mine:
My homemade guitar, Rebecca. Built her the summer after I graduated highschool.
Semi-hollow, swamp-ash/spruce/maple/rosewood, SD Jazz and JB with coil splits.

Daaaaamn! love it! Is the top arched? I'm struggling with the top arch on my 335 build

Nice but can we see the front too please.

Didn't put a pic of the front in for two reasons: I wanted to honor the one picture rule, and I know it isn't winning anything. But since you asked...

She ain't winnin' any beauty contests. Looks better in person, but she is what she is.

Thanks! The top on this one is flat but I'm working a semi-hollow Les Paul and a jazzbox right now which will both be arched, I'll be sure to do a write up on them.

Interesting instrument - how does it play and sound?

It plays really well, I actually had it set up by Tom Jones of TV-Jones as it was my first build. The tone is very warm and resonant, which I think the hollow swamp ash body and spruce top contribute to. The tuners take some getting used to but I've come to like them.

Very nice indeed. I like the traditional Classic guitar head stock. What scale length did you use?

So, when is the poll going to go up?

Hopefully I'm not too late. Just got in from vacation and figured WTH may as well take a pic and put her up. Unfortunately it's raining so I can't get an outside shot. My Gibson ES-390 that I won on my birthday this year.

Mini buckers and trapeze - I'm good with it.

Thanks, dude. She's got a covered Jazz bridge and amber top hats now. Gotta post a new pic. Unique, yes, lol. In a heroin induced fit of creativity, my cousin just hacked off the cutaway--making it a TRUE cutaway--and filled it in with plastic wood or whatever they used in the early 70s. He said he wanted easier access to the upper frets. My brother was with him when he did it and said he just couldn't believe what he was seeing, lol. The original color was like a red glitter his sister told me. She loaned him the money to buy it in 68. The neck pickup is original, and I HAD the bridge, but I must have sold it years ago or lost it when I moved here back in 96, because I ripped my house apart and just can't find it. Back in the 80s, another drug addict who owned a guitar shop convinced me to let him put a new fretboard on. Big mistake. His work was terrible, and he had the guitar over a year. Paid the ****** over six bills towards a grand he was going to charge me for the fretboard, new face and paint. I was young and really, really stupid. Had to threaten to kill him to get the guitar back too...unfinished with no top. Went to go take a Les Paul off his wall a week or two later to make up for the money I gave him, and his shop was closed. I would have lost this guitar forever if I didn't demand it back when I did.

There hasn't even been a poll yet!
