Wow! I knew the competition was gonna be serious but there isn't a guitar in the list that doesn't inspire drooling! I'm a little bummed that so far I'm the only one to vote for my Explorer, but that's natural. I knew Karpathion and Itsabass's Explorers would be tough competition but those metallic red and blue SGs are really stunning!

I'm a little bummed that so far I'm the only one to vote for my Explorer, but that's natural. I knew Karpathion and Itsabass's Explorers would be tough competition but those metallic red and blue SGs are really stunning!

I kinda thought I'd score a few more votes than I have too. One of the biggest comments I hear about Gibson Explorers is, "I wish they made them with a flame top and binding."

I think when it comes to Gibson guitars, people are more about the classic styles and designs. Just looking at the pictures, mine sticks out like a sore thumb. It just doesn't look like it belongs in the group. But, it is a very good group. I'd own any of them.

Im sooo mad at myself for being a total tard.. When the prelim was up for this thread, I had a total brainfart. I read non LP Gibson and all that crossed my mind was SGs, and like 335s. I didnt even think about my Mistress. I know I cant enter, but I wanna at least put her in here. Gonna have to buy her flowers or something for forgetting her...

SGs really need to be separate. Over the years that LPs and SGs have been around, SGs have sold better than Les Pauls. They are at least as popular as Les Pauls today IME (as a sound guy and someone who plays in bands, thus seeing literally hundreds of bands a year). It's highly illogical that Les Pauls get their own category and a "copy" category, yet SGs get lumped in with every Gibson other than a Les Paul.

I guess I just see it a little different. The catagory is fine to me. This is throwdown. If it's a Gibson, and not the flagship LP, throw it in there.
I'm more suprised that there are no 335s, and such.

I'm surprised a V has the lead, and by quite a bit (so far). Not one of Gibson's more popular shapes. I would have expected an SG to be up front, or even a 335 - that as you mentioned is completely MIA from the thread.

Oh! I did submit it?? I didnt think I did... Problem is, with the mirrors, its so hard to get a good shot. My camera is shunt too. But the mirror pg reflects everything so it usually turns out dark like whatever its reflecting. Or, as the truss cover looks here, white. oh well, I love her..

I'm a fan of that guitar too.

One of my all time favorites was Lita's black Explorer, with the white binding.

Was that one Gibby, or a Hamer
