someone want to start with a drum track? then we can throw down a bassline

lets have this be a 12 bar blues in Bb. so (1 measure each)

Bb Bb Eb Bb Bb Eb Eb Bb Bb F Eb Bb

Re: SDUGF Collab take 2 (12 bar)

i'm thinking the in the vein of fusion jazz rock. so maybe throw in a #9 on the root and a natural nine on the rest

Re: SDUGF Collab take 2 (12 bar)

yeah. i can do rythm guitar...I just need something to latch onto

Re: SDUGF Collab take 2 (12 bar)

Seems like kind of a weird 12-bar distribution...hmm.

I might have some time on Thursday to drop a drum/bass/backing track.

Re: SDUGF Collab take 2 (12 bar)

Typically I've done...

Bb Bb Bb Bb Eb Eb Bb Bb F Eb Bb F7

or sub a Eb for the second measure.

I can't quite get into the changes the way you've got it there.

this one, with the IV in the 2nd measure ... plenty of spicey alt doms, sub bVs, and nested ii-Vs

and no, an alt dom has nothing to do with a pre-op tranny, a latex plushy, or a horsey boy with a crush twist :D

Yeah...if I do this rythym track, it'll have plenty of spice. I played guitar for my college jazz ensemble for a few years, I've got a bunch o neat voicings to drop over that.

So how does this work, anyway. Let's say I put down a rythym track with a few repeats of the main progression, and put it up on Soundclick. Everyone who's interested then records themselves playing along with it, then I loop the rythym track and punch everyone in over it, then mix it down to an extended blues jam? Sound about right?

Sounds good for me atleast.

yeah, works for me

Re: SDUGF Collab take 2 (12 bar)

that sounds fine ... or you can just lay a handful of choruses out there and we post our own versions - no need to splice em into one long track

Re: SDUGF Collab take 2 (12 bar)

What did y'all have in mind for a BPM on this?

I figure we'll see how the tracks sound from everybody...if it seems like it'd turn out well I'd probably go back and re-record the backing track once everyone did their part, and maybe change it up under each solo to make it not as repetitive.

Re: SDUGF Collab take 2 (12 bar)

This could actually work with Vetteboy at the helm!

:laugh2:

I will give you guys a 2 minute long one-note solo with my new P90 axe!

Re: SDUGF Collab take 2 (12 bar)

Someone lay down the chords to a click track, send em to me, and I'll try and do my best to lay down the drum and bass tracks. I don't need to hear the click track, just tell me what BPM it is and all.

Screw it, I had a free hour this afternoon. Should work for a backing track.

Bb 12-bar blues, 100 BPM. If we wanna use this, here's how I see it going down:

- Use a program like Reaper to add your solo track
- Post up the solo track *without* the backing track (and with, if you want)
- After enough people do it, I (or someone else) can record a full-length backing track and layer everyone's solos over it.
- Profit!

A few things to keep in mind...

- it's not necessary to play over the entire length of the sample
- it's not necessary to play in the 'style' of the sample...it's just there for the chord changes, and the final backing track can accommodate it better
- it's not necessary to fit as many notes as possible into your track
- it's relatively necessary to match the tuning & tempo of the sample

If someone else wants to throw a backing track out there, or make suggestions to do it differently, please do. :)

edit: after listening more, I don't really like it until the 2:00 mark. Took that long to get in the groove I guess.
