SDUGF Special Offer - Custom Shop Phat Staple at an Amazing Discount

Re: SDUGF Special Offer - Custom Shop Phat Staple at an Amazing Discount

heh. have someone standing by with a camera; the shot of you trying the shake the broken bits of staple pick-up off the hammer will be priceless

I don't think they'll break. But they will de-magnetize from the impacts so by the time they are in they won't make beep :)

Whoa... sure wish I'd seen these pups before the deadline. :banghead: That bridge position clip was righteous tele-like as Seymour commented. - Jason G

Hey Evan, am I likely to get an email from Maricela when she returns from holidays?
I'm pretty sure I followed the instructions, just hoping Pontiac Jack and myself don't miss out.

Cheers, big ears!:friday: ( It's colloquial to OZ...if that's how one spells it )

Whether you got a confirmation or not, I think you can be sure you get your pickup at the price at the time.

Re: SDUGF Special Offer - Custom Shop Phat Staple at an Amazing Discount

Well my pair of pups arrived in Riyadh this morning, though I've still not the foggiest what they'll end up being used for (much like my Crazy 8's to be honest)

Lucky shot, but if you don't try you never know... :approve:

Anyone happen to have Phat Staple pickups they sort of want to sell for less than the SD factory prize? :naughty:

I missed the fab offer and now like them a lot...

You need a black/gold pair?

I have not been brave enough to route my vintage Burny LPC in the neck so they are sitting on a shelf since ... well, then.

Well, black & chrome was more the idea, but standard humbucker housing is far more important!
The fact that I live in the EU is not such a problem, if that is what I think the previous poster means.

Can you sell to an American citizen in the States? Please don't rush off now ;)

Re: SDUGF Special Offer - Custom Shop Phat Staple at an Amazing Discount

I don't think we should mess up this thread with sales activity and EU bashing. In general it is bad style to not disclose foreign residence in sales posts. Because it is a problem with payment. I will email you.

i'm pretty sure Evan specifically said not to do that.

did you join up just to try and scam a set of staples on the cheap..?

Re: SDUGF Special Offer - Custom Shop Phat Staple at an Amazing Discount

Man, I'm disappointed I passed on this. :( I was saving every dime for my house, even eating I was doing on the cheap so this much for a pair of pickups for a guitar I don't even own wasn't going to happen. But man, I should have done it!

Re: SDUGF Special Offer - Custom Shop Phat Staple at an Amazing Discount

I'll keep mine until a suitable guitar with bottomless pit routes comes along. Sorry guys.

Are any other SDUGF user group pickups coming? Maybe SD should just reissue these ones for a while at the original price.

And bundle a router with VERY long bits :D

Re: SDUGF Special Offer - Custom Shop Phat Staple at an Amazing Discount

Seeing how we didn't have a user group day this year, a SDUGF pickup doesn't sound bad at all. :scratchch

Re: SDUGF Special Offer - Custom Shop Phat Staple at an Amazing Discount

Even when I think I do not stand a chance, I'll try to explain my behaviour here. I am not a native speaker, so be prepared for some crummy English.

I heard the Phat Staples in this video: http://www.musicradar.com/guitarist/gretsch-g5120-video-demo-260109

I absolutely do not like the relicing looks but I sure love the sweet Phat Staple tone.

When I visited the Seymour Duncan site, I soon found out that they are difficult to create and therefore more expensive. I searched on Ebay etc. but the Phat Staples are rare.

I dug a bit deeper and found I completely missed out on the special offer of this forum. I was not a member and never ordered a set.

Then I read Europeans can't have these pickups due to ridiculous European over-regulation. You can't blame me for evading these regulations; any law that says these pickups are a health or safety risk, is completely silly and I won't be stopped by that kind of nonsense in any way whatsoever. You can call that stubborn.

True, Evan mentioned resale is not intended; only to other SDUGF members.

But then again, I see the flow of events like this:

- The offer is closed, only SDUGF members bought these pickups.
- I think it was not preferred that during this offer, members would act as sub-dealers.
- It's about a year later now: you either like your pickups or you may have second thoughts.
- How bad is it, for me to ask if there are first owners who would like to part with their pickups?
- There is no truckload of special offer Phat Staples available for unintented resale, but some may want to sell them.
- Evan did not say SD won't sale to Europeans because they specifically choose not to; they just can't due to regulations.
- So I did not montion at once that I am European. It never crossed my mind it is that big of a deal to the members here. That was not intended but apparently very stupid not to do so. I apologize for that.
- I did become a forum member as soon as I wanted these pickups. I can't deny that. But I have been lurking at Seymour Duncan pickups for a long time. The filtertrons and dynasonic replacements. And I have been reading the forum about wiring pickups and so on. The wish to buy these pickups is at least some proof of love for the product.
- If I had become a member two years ago, just to ask something, there would never have been the question if I am trying to scam a set of staples on the cheap.
- How big is the scam, if I am willing to pay about the same price as other SDUGF members did, for a product they owned over a year that is no longer needed? I am not some con artist trying to hit an innocent mark.
- If you stay at the Gretsch forum for a while, you can buy cheap used TV Jones pickups if you want to. Is that evil? What is the use of unwanted pickups in a musician's desk drawer or on his shelf?

You can regard my actions as a cheapskate scam,

or

as a win-win situation for the buyer, the seller and Seymour Duncan; the Phat Staples would be further introduced at the Gretsch Pages for the tone hungry G5120 owners.

I am sorry if I offend or offended anyone, but I will keep asking if anyone is prepared to sell me their Phat Staple pickup set, he or she no longer wants to keep.

Re: SDUGF Special Offer - Custom Shop Phat Staple at an Amazing Discount

^^ Check post #95. We also have a "trading post", you can start a new thread and ask if anyone wants to sell their set or p'up.

^ i have several!

You have several ideas? If you do, maybe we should start a new thread.:naughty:
