SEAL LAST NIGHT / Matchless

An acquaintance had tix from Seal's management, so we sat Orchestra level in OC to see SEAL.

Amazing singer, beautiful voice and songs. He played some wonderful acoustic.

He played with 2 guitar players, one who switched to bass here and there. Sometimes Bass, and all Keys, were on backing tracks. I didn't know he lives in LA permanently.

His players had 2 Matchless amps each with pedal boards. You could see the Line 6 Delay, Wah, and some other things. The sound was great. I am not sure which models, but I figured there was some bluesy break up in there A LA AC30. Nice feel, though with enough lead sound, I found them a tad compressed. All I can say is, hearing him do Kiss from a Rose with 2 acoustic guitars, standing 20 feet from me - wow!

I saw Seal in the early 90's, with a girlfriend who wanted to go. He really is an amazing singer with such a cool voice. I'm sure those Matchli sounded great. When they're overdriven hard, they take on sort of a U2/Queen type of sound.

A lot of people say that I'm a fool for liking Seal, I've only heard "Kiss From a Rose" but I love that song!

Seal was playing last night?!?! DAMMIT I missed it! :yell: I'm in the OC and I wouldve liked to have seen that.

Seal's first 2 cd's are amazing pieces of work. Great songs, beautiful voice, great musicians and superb production (Trevor Horn). His later cds unfortunately didn't really follow suite.

Matchli! Pluralization of the year!

Ah, you caught that! :laugh2: Amps of that quality cannot be referred to as Matchlesses......a duo of Matchless shall be referred to as Matchli. :fingersx:

Seal really is a great singer. "Kiss..." is probably one of his best tunes, but there are others worth hearing.

The entire second album is REALLY good... Human Beings (title track) is a great peice of work. I thought the 4th album (whats up with not titling the albums?) was a little more groovy and R&B flavored. Great stuff!

Jeff Beck is listed in the credits on the 2nd album, but it doesn't list a specific track or tracks.
