Seeking recommendations for a Solid state amp for headphone use.

Hello everyone!

So I'm looking for a Solid state amp, mainly less than 30watts. I'll be using this primarily for my headphones when playing. Something about the size of a throw pillow. I'm looking for a good overall sound also. A decent amount of gain. Something around the $150-250 price range.

I'm really leaning towards the Marshall MG15, anyone try one of these? Thanks guys!

If you're going strictly for headphones, why not get something designated for that purpose? You can check out the Palmer Pocket Amp Mk II. There are also the Mooer mini amp stompboxes that can be combined with their Radar cab sim (I think that one has a headphone out jack).

I'm searching it our now, seems interesting. I never heard of it. Thank you! I'm looking into the pocket amp, seems legit!

Do you have to have a speaker or is it strickly for headphones? I would suggest checking the Orange Micro Terror.

I wasn't aware manufactures made products that can be strictly for headphones. But yes mainly headphones.

You might find an older PODHD that would be great for headphones only.

I'd by this for $40 for Headphone only

and put the rest of the money into a great amp

Just one problem: what if the dang thing ACTUALLY sounds like an AC30?

That would be hella unfortunate

I already have a great amp, I have 2 Marshalls, a 15' DSL40 & a 93 JCM. I just need something compatable with headphones, I don't want to wake my son in the early am or when he's napping

Then check out the VOX amPlug 2 I have the Marshall flavor and it sounds great. Nothing bulky about it. With good headphones it sounds amazing.

I have an older MG15 CDR, with the spring reverb tank. I got it for a friend who wanted it cuz it was used in an anime. He didn't stick with the guitar so I got the amp back....
It works but it has a little bit of a sterile, bright, glass breaking overdrive unless you get the speaker really moving, at which point I think it sounds pretty good for what it is.
With headphones it's a little fizzy and grainy, I use my digital modeling amp more often to be honest. It has a lot of gain and the normal channel has nice bright cleans.
But I do like it when I can crank it.

Im confused OP. You already have a great real amp and you just want something with a headphone out so you dont wake you kid napping -BUT you dont want a headphone only little interface like the little VOX i suggest?? Maybe I misread this -i apologize if so but Im not seeing where another guitar amp helps anything.

Re: Seeking recommendations for a Solid state amp for headphone use.

All that gives you is one headphone sound. Why not get something that gives you oceans of different sounds?

Re: Seeking recommendations for a Solid state amp for headphone use.

I use a Zoom 505 with phones plugged into it. Ive also used one of those little zinky amps with phones plugged in. plus, there are several other products avail now for that purpose. Plus... There are also actual amps avail with headphone jacks on them.
