Selecting the right ohm speaker for my amp?

Hi there, i am replacing the 12" speaker in my
1x12 H&K 20th anniversary edtion 20 watt tube combo, but the g12h30 i am planning on getting, is in both 8ohm and 16ohm ratings. Im not sure what rating to get, the only indication on the amp is the extension speaker output jack can take 8 or 16ohm speaker cabinets. Also when the amp is driving another speaker (extension cab) the internal speaker is still going.

Would you guys be able to help me out here?

disconnect your speaker leads from the existing speaker and measure impedance across the positive and negative contacts. If it's close to 8 ohms, then you have an 8 ohm speaker. It won't be exactly 8, but you'll be able to figure out that if the reading is 13 or so, it's a 16 ohm speaker. If it's 6 or so it'll be an 8 ohm.

You might also just try and check out the companies website for info or call them.

if you are saying that when you use the extension speaker jack the internal speaker keeps working and the amp can run at 8 or 16 ohms i say get a 16 ohm speaker.
1- you will be able to use the internal 16 ohm speaker and another external 16 ohm speaker togeather to get 8 ohms which is fine for your amp

2- i think amps in general sound best when they are using the full transformer, in your case the 16 ohms
