I assume it can't sound bad, if it's custom-made by MJ... BTW, scatterwinding is supposed to add some nice top-end to the sound. Maybe it will be a Jazz w/ some kick in the rear but a more open top-end at the same time? Sounds good.
Well now, this is actually the pickup I'll be winding for User Group Day. It'll hardly be wound by a "master". It'll be wound my me.:nervous:
I've been experimenting with the PG I just bought. Here's the thing about stagger winds...
it will add more rudeness and sizzle to the top end IF the overwound coil is closer to the bridge. If it's farther away, like I have it now, it will be slightly warmer. I actually really like the sound of the PG with the overwound coil turned around. :bigok:
Stagger wound is when one coil of a humbucker is wound hotter than the other. THe coils are staggered.
Scatter wound is...I assume you know, it's in the SD glossary. The winds are scattered, to allow more air to pass between the winds, resulting in more highs.

Would that be for the neck or for the brigde? I think for the neck would be too much, too much output and not so much clarity. That it isn't necesary a bad thing, but I personaly don't like it. But on the bridge It'll ROCK!!! :burnout: Sometimes I find vintage pups (8.5K) a bit low in output and high output (more than 14K) just too much. That 9.5K could the answer...
