How is the exchange rate in Italy btw? Are pickups there as you said in another message "cartel prices" in general even for something like a brand new '59? Might be time to bite the bullet and get one from the US even with shipping charges.

It's by no means convenient. Starting with most sellers won't ship to Italy. The few that'll do, the shipping expenses are about $ 45.00 for a set, which you'll have to add 22% of VAT, 0.03% Customs plus a $ 12,00 Administrative flat fee for every transaction. Did I mention the average 4/5 week time to the distribution of international shipped goods?

I would love to try one too if I could get my hands on a 6 string version at a reasonable price.

Yeah, more or less how it is at neighboring Greece too, except our VAT is 23% plus, now we have a wonderful thing called Capital Control in effect which, among other things means that you can't use your own money to buy anything from a non-Greece-based seller which means no eBay, no Paypal, no Amazon, no Warmoth, no nothing...

Wow, sounds amazing, would certainly love to try one in one of my guitars, perhaps in stead of one of the Jazzes that are in there now.
