Seperator underneath coils in older TB5

I just did a mag swap in an old TB5J I had, and when I pulled the tape off there was some kind of separator layer, about the thickness of a piece of thin card, between the bottom of the bobbins and the magnet. It looked like some sort of plastic wafer.

I just left it in place, popped in the new mag and taped it up again, but its been bugging me, as I know it isn`t in the other custom I usually mag swap.

Any ideas...I wish I`d taken a photo

Never seen such a thing. Maybe the thinkness of the magnet was wrong. I would guess it was a mag swap done with a thinner magnet.

I`ll post a picture later, this pickup is an old one, the bobbins have kind of warped a bit on top...it doesn`t look like somethiong that was added, it looks like its as old as the pickup, and the mag that came out was correct for the pickup i.e. it was marked a TB5J and the mag was a ceramic.
