Crap, I knew it was too good to be true... first the huge learning curve, now no neck+mid in series.

To be honest, I wouldn't lament the loss of that combination. I may have mentioned before, that I'm going to do away with the series connection on my Genny. I'd rather split the C5, than run the series connection.

However, since you don't have a bridge humbucker, I think I'd do this:

Convert the wiring to having a single master volume/master tone. Use the third position to add a push/pull pot. Use the "pot" portion to blend in the bridge, (ala Lindy Fralin), and the push/pull switch to connect the neck and middle in series.

That will give you, (along with the normal 5-way switching):

neck & bridge combo
neck/middle/bridge
neck and middle as a humbucker
neck and middle as a humbucker, with the bridge.

Thats not a bad selection of tones, and you still keep it simple. You don't want to create a situation where you spend more time switching . . . than playing. :laugh2:

Yeah, I think there's going to be a danger of having too much to worry about. It'd be hard to remember them all, especially in a gig situation.

I would like to add a bit of beef to the bridge pup of my Legacy. It is fitted with 3 SSL-1's. I gather that some sort of series mod with either the middle or neck pup might do the job...

I've been using the Sup'rStrat wiring harness on all of my strats:

For best results you will want to swap the RWRP middle pickup with either the bridge or the neck pickup (your choice!) so that the two bridge/neck linkages are humcancelling. 9 different linkages using a regular 5 way strat switch and a DPDT mode switch (a push-pull pot or a separate mini-toggle).

I use a master tone control with a passive mid control in the middle hole:
