series/parallel wiring, 2 single coils, 1 volume, 1 tone

I have searched high & low for a wiring diagram for series/parallel wiring using:

2 Jazz Bass pups
1 volume
1 tone
1 on on on toggle switch pickup selector
1 on on DPDT for series/parallel

Closest thing I have found was for a Tele, and it involved running a 2nd "ground" wire from the metal pup cover on the neck pup. HELP!!!

Are you talking pickups in series/parallel? Or do you have humbuckers and want to make the coils in series/parallel?

FWIW - A quick Internet search yielded this:

That diagram is so close. Thanks for posting. Sadly, I'm too dense to figure out how to swap the 2nd volume knob for a large 3 way box type 3 way pickup switch. I have 2 single coil Jazz pups stuck in a Peavey Grind 4 string neck & body a friend gave me. I'm gonna try installing steel plates under the pups & attaching a 3rd wire to each of those. Now if I could find a big ol' box type ON ON ON DPDT toggle switch and a matching ON ON DPDT switch. then all that's left is finding a wiring diagram that uses those components.

Also, this bass has 4 individual bridges, a separate piece for each string. Any suggestions on grounding this type of bridge?,

Are you sure you really need the toggle? I have 3 basses with wiring as shown in the diagram (V/V/DPDT push-pull for S-P plus tone).

I've never felt there was any need a pickup selector. I love this setup as is.

Re: series/parallel wiring, 2 single coils, 1 volume, 1 tone

I learned on a Tele, just always preferred one volume, or at least a master volume. I managed to modify a DPDT ON OFF ON switch to operate as a ON ON ON. I even got it wired up, but still haven'the been able to wire up the series/parallel switch. Again, the only diagram I have found is for a Tele, and it uses a blade switch. My confusion lies in "transposing" the 8 contact blade switch to use my now 3 contact ON ON ON switch. For now, I have the s/p switch unwired, just filling a empty hole in my FrankenBass.

Re: series/parallel wiring, 2 single coils, 1 volume, 1 tone

I'm not qualified to help you with the wiring. The three basses I have that use series-parallel switching all have vol neck/vol bridge/DPDT push-pull pot that's also the tone. Pull for series, push for parallel. I love that setup.

Personally for bass I don't care for pickup selectors on a bass at all and even modified my Rick 4001 to get rid of it, substituting a blend pot plus a single volume and single tone.
