Serious amp regret

Re: Serious amp regret

I use an AMT SS-20 preamp pedal that has clean, crunch/Lead channels. The clean has it's own volume and gain knobs and crunch/lead has one volume and separate gains for crunch/lead. Running it into my fx loop of my Peavey VKII 20MH head with soak set to 1W, I can keep the volume knobs low, set gain where I like, and crank up the power amp on the Master to 8 or 9 and get power tube breakup. Even easier when flipping Class knob from A/B to A, where it only uses one EL84 tube. Nice power tube breakup at low volume bedroom levels, so yeah, some tube amps definitely worth running at bedroom levels.

I sold a 100W Marshall PA head and 8x10 cabinet for £250 back in '93, before I was even fully aware as to what big Marshall can really sound like. Plus a silver face Bassman 70 and matching 2x12 cabinet in '02 which I definitely should've kept. Those 2 haunt me...

Re: Serious amp regret

What do you think of the VOX VT-20 for bedroom playing?? Just curious

Re: Serious amp regret

I know a lot of people saying they got rid of those older Peavey bandit 112's teal and silver strips and they wish they hadnt. I have one of those Bandits and love this amp. I did think about getting rid of it for a all tube amo but I recently changed the speaker to an Eminence CV-75 and it comes to life big time great tone for a SS amp. I use real tube OD pedals also with preamp tubes in them and that really makes a good tone
